PACER workshops focus on positive behavior supports
PACER Center is offering two workshops on positive behavior supports for families of children with disabilities from birth through age 12. Part I is Monday, Aug. 24, and Part II is Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009. Both are 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Parents may attend either or both sessions. Advance registration is requested.Monday, Aug. 24: Understanding and Addressing Challenging Behaviors in Your Young Child
Families of children with disabilities from birth to age 5 will learn about:
- Brain development and behavior
- Different temperament types
- Stages of development
- Strategies to help children get their needs met in acceptable ways
Tuesday, Aug. 25: Practical Tips: Using the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to Meet Behavior Needs
Parents of children ages 3 to 12 with emotional or behavioral needs will learn about:
- Understanding behavior
- Developing a positive approach
- Using the IEP to meet emotional and behavior needs
- Writing a Positive Behavior Plan
