PACER workshop addresses the special education process
PACER Center is offering “IDEA: Understanding the Special Education Process,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities and for professionals. It is on
Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) affects special education for children with disabilities. This workshop covers information on such topics as:
- Understanding special education
- Understanding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Learning about new IEP requirements
- Evaluating and re-evaluating students
- Keeping special education records
- Becoming an effective advocate for your child and an effective IEP team member
- Resolving differences
Each participant will receive a special education record-keeping folder.
