PACER Center workshop explores the federal stimulus and special education
PACER Center is offering “The Federal Stimulus: What It Means for Your Child in Special Education,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities. It is on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Children’s Home Society & Family Services, 1605 Eustis St., St. Paul, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
The federal stimulus bill, known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will provide additional special education funding to schools for the next two years. For Minnesota, this will mean an estimated increase of $205 million for special education.
This workshop is for parents who want to learn more about:
- The federal stimulus bill and its impact on special education in schools
- How parents can make sure schools use the money appropriately on special education priorities
To register, call PACER at 952-838-9000 or 952-838-0190 (TTY). In Greater Minnesota, call 800-537-2237 (toll free) or visit PACER.org.
PACER Center is a parent center for families of children and young adults with any disability. PACER provides individual assistance, workshops, publications, and other resources to help families make decisions about education and other services for their child or young adult with disabilities.
