PACER Center workshop focuses on positive behavior interventions

PACER Center is offering “Practice the Positive: Using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports at Home to Change Challenging Behaviors” a free workshop for parents. It is on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Anoka-Hennepin Staff Development Center, 2727 N. Ferry St., Anoka, Minn. Advance registration is requested.

Behavior is communication, and all people develop a style of communication that works for them. Participants at this workshop will discover a new, fresh, and positive approach to changing problem behavior and supporting improved behavior.

Topics include:

  • Understanding behavior from a positive perspective
  • Teaching preferred behavior through the use of positive behavior interventions
  • Finding alternatives to punishment
  • Sustaining appropriate behavior
