PACER offers volunteer puppeteer training workshop on March 4

PACER Center is offering a one-day training for new volunteer puppeteers. It is on Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is required.

The Count Me In® and Kids Against Bullying puppet programs feature endearing, child-size puppets that address disability awareness and bullying prevention in a thoughtful, entertaining way. Volunteers attend a training to learn puppet and presentation skills; work with a fun team; present programs at metro schools two to three times per month; and help young children understand the importance of inclusion and preventing bullying. Volunteers need to have a car, time during the school day, and a desire to help young children. To register or learn more, call Lynn Dennis at 952-838-9000, e-mail puppets@PACER.org, or visit PACER.org/puppets.

PACER Center is a parent center for families of children and young adults with any disability. PACER provides individual assistance, workshops, publications, and other resources to help families make decisions about education and other services for their child or young adult with disabilities.
