PACER workshop addresses the special education process
PACER Center is offering “IDEA: Understanding the Special Education Process,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities and for professionals. It is on
Monday, April 12, 2010, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Rainy River Community College, Humanities Building H-118, 1501 Hwy. 71, International Falls, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) affects how children in special education are to be served. This workshop covers information on such topics as:
- Understanding special education
- Understanding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Evaluating and re-evaluating students
- Keeping special education records
- Becoming an effective advocate for your child and an effective IEP team member
- Resolving differences
Each participant will receive a special education record-keeping folder.
