PACER workshop addresses transition planning for youth with disabilities
PACER Center is offering “Transition: Pathway to the Future,” a free workshop for parents of youth with disabilities and for professionals. It is on Thursday, April 15, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m., at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Transition planning is an important step in preparing your student for life after high school. Participants at this workshop will learn how to help their students achieve their dreams and goals.
Topics include:
- Using the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to develop transition services
- Having high expectations
- Understanding age of majority and transfer of rights to the student
- Identifying required transition areas for planning
- Learning about adult services
