PACER workshop addresses planning for educational inclusion
PACER Center is offering “Planning for Educational Inclusion,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities and for professionals. It is on Thursday, April 22, 2010, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room 115 at Roosevelt Community School, 122 E. McKinley St., Owatonna, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Participants will learn tips for including students with significant disabilities in grades K through 12. The workshop will address these questions:
- What is educational inclusion?
- How can parents use the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process to plan for inclusion?
- How does the IEP team determine the least restrictive environment?
- Why is it important to have access to the general curriculum?
- Why and how should a child with disabilities participate in district and state assessments?
- What is the state of educational inclusion nationally and in Minnesota?
