PACER Center offers two ADHD workshops
PACER Center is offering two free workshops for parents and professionals whose children or students have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Both are on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Participants may attend one or both of these informative sessions. Advance registration is requested.
Come learn effective ways to help children and young adults better manage life with ADHD.
Morning workshop: 9 to 11 a.m.
“Transition Issues for Young Adults with ADHD” takes a compassionate look at the behavioral and developmental challenges youth with this disability face. Participants will learn about clinical, educational, and legal strategies that can help.
Evening workshop: 7 to 9:30 p.m.
“Diagnosis of ADHD: Promoting Acceptance by Self and Others” acknowledges the impact ADHD can have on others. It suggests ways to understand the diagnosis and develop effective strategies to deal with the symptoms and emotions affecting the whole family.
Both sessions will be co-presented by Matt Cohen, nationally known special education attorney with a passion for helping children with disabilities, and Norma Echavarria, child psychiatrist and ADHD specialist.
