PACER Center workshop addresses early childhood special education services

PACER Center is offering “Talk the Talk,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities from birth to age 7.  It is on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2010, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.

Parents need to have an active role in early intervention and early childhood special education services for their children. In this workshop, parents will learn:

  • The importance of their role when working with early childhood professionals
  • How to prepare for an Individualized Family Service Plan or Individualized Education Program team meeting
  • How to identify a child’s strengths and needs
  • The skills and strategies needed to effectively communicate with professionals

To register, call PACER at 952-838-9000. In Greater Minnesota, call 800-537-2237 (toll free) or visit the PACER website at PACER.org.
