PACER Center workshop addresses special education
PACER Center is offering “Special Education: What Do I Need to Know,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities. It is on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Bloomington Education Center, 1350 West 106th St., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Special education is instruction designed specifically to meet the requirements of children with special needs. It is provided in the most appropriate setting for the children and at no cost to parents or families.
This new workshop will cover such topics as:
- Why is it important for parents to be involved?
- How can I work effectively with the school?
- What do I need to know about the evaluation process?
- How do we make the Individualized Education Program (IEP) fit the child?
- How do special education and regular education work together?
English, Somali, and Spanish versions of this workshop will be presented concurrently.
