PACER Center workshop focuses on understanding the Individualized Education Program for students with autism
PACER Center is offering “IDEA: Understanding the Individualized Education Program (IEP) with a Focus on Autism,” a free workshop for parents of children with autism and for professionals. It is on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., at the Autism Society of Minnesota, 2380 Wycliff St. #102, St. Paul, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Children with autism have unique issues to be covered in their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Participants will learn about IEP development, including:
- Ways to address executive function
- Self-regulation
- Communication
- Social cognition
This workshop will be co-presented by PACER advocates and the education director of the Autism Society of Minnesota, who is a parent of children with autism. This event is co-sponsored by the Autism Society of Minnesota.
