PACER Center workshop in Blaine will address skills needed for effective parent advocacy

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer “Six Skills for Effective Parent Advocacy,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24 at Best Western Plus, 10580 Baltimore St. N.E., Blaine.

This workshop will explore six skills parents can use to become more effective advocates for their child with a disability. These skills are:

  • Understanding your child’s disability
  • Knowing the key players
  • Knowing your rights and responsibilities
  • Using clear and effective communication
  • Becoming well organized
  • Knowing how to resolve disagreements
