PACER Center workshop in Wadena will focus on transition planning for youth with disabilities

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer “Transition: Pathway to the Future — Using the IEP to Develop Transition Services,” a free workshop for parents of youth with disabilities and for professionals. It will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Pizza Ranch, 106 Jefferson St. S., Wadena.

Transition planning is an important step in preparing students with disabilities for life after high school. Participants at this workshop will learn how to help students achieve their dreams and goals. Parents of students in the eighth grade and beyond are encouraged to attend.

The workshop will address:

  • Using the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to develop transition services
  • Having high expectations
  • Understanding age of majority and transfer of rights to the student
  • Identifying required transition areas for planning
  • Learning about adult services

Participants will also receive a packet of helpful information and resources. This event is funded in part by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education.

To register for this free workshop, contact PACER Center at (952) 838-9000 or (800) 537-2237 (toll free), email [email protected], or visit
