PACER Center workshop in Mahtomedi will explore how an IEP can help children with disabilities make educational progress

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer “The ABCs of the IEP: A Guide to the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for Minnesota Parents,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities on an IEP. The workshop will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 6 at the District Education Center, 1520 Mahtomedi Ave., Mahtomedi.

This workshop will help parents understand how to use the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to benefit their child. Participants will use the PACER booklet, “Guide for Minnesota Parents to the IEP,” to understand how each required part of the IEP can be developed to meet their child’s needs.

Parents will also gain knowledge about how to effectively participate in the annual IEP meeting. Topics will include:

  • Measurable annual goals
  • Progress reports
  • Direct and indirect services

To participate in the workshop, parents will need to bring a copy of their child’s most recent school special education evaluation report and their child’s current IEP.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Mahtomedi Public School District.

To register for this free workshop, contact PACER Center at (952) 838-9000 or (800) 537-2237 (toll free), email [email protected], or visit
