PACER Center workshop will explore physician’s role in supporting children with mental health, emotional, or behavioral needs

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer “Going Beyond Medicine,” a free workshop for parents of children with mental health, emotional, or behavioral needs. It will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington.

Parents of children or youth with mental health, emotional, or behavioral needs frequently go to their child’s doctor for help. Often the only expectation is that they will leave with a prescription for medicine.

This workshop, presented by Dr. Barry Garfinkel and Dr. Richard Peterson, will inform parents and others to optimize that contact by preparing for the doctor visit and learning what role medications may play in treatment. Participants will also learn how to apply that information to increase better outcomes at school, at home, and in the community.

To register to attend this free workshop, contact PACER Center at (952) 838-9000 or (800) 537-2237 (toll free), email [email protected], or visit
