Resources created by students that are designed for students. These activities express viewpoints that are shown through the mediums of art, music, and videos.

Marina V – Marina is a recording artist, singer and songwriter in Los Angeles. She is originally from Moscow, Russia and experienced bullying at school as a child. Her song “Speak” inspires listeners to believe in themselves and be proud of who they are. Marina is passionate about sharing this important message.

Because These Kids Are – A 10-minute dramatic film from the heart of 12-year-old actress, Izabela Vidovic. While at a park, a young artist sees a bullying situation unfold in front of her and those involved become the muses for her work. When the person bullying suddenly targets her, she surrenders her pictures to him, opening his eyes to the truth behind who he and these kids really are.

Jetset Getset - Stronger (Than You Seem) – “Stronger” is a song written for the group “Jetset Getset” to help young people who are feeling discouraged. The writer, Jennifer Eliason shares, "Middle school is a time when self-esteem can take a beating. We wanted to write a song for the group (Jetset Getset), who are in middle school, about how you can rise above the challenges and the experience can make you stronger."

Hayley Reardon Music – usic is the universal language of emotion and Hayley Reardon expresses herself so eloquently through her original compositions. Hayley taps into her talent and gifts to create poignant, heartfelt songs about being a teen. Hayley's original music and videos can be played in classroom, and are accompanied by classroom discussion questions.

Strain – This 11 minute “silent” video is the powerful depiction of two best friends who have a deadly falling out when one of them joins a dangerous clique. Childhood best friends (Michelle Page and Cali Fredrichs) hit emotional crossroads when only one is chosen to join the popular clique in high school (Francia Raisa). The friendship tries to survive — in secret. But on the night of the big Spring Formal, loyalties are tested, ties are severed and friendships end with devastating consequences.

Note: This video does address the issue of suicide. Before showing in a classroom, please take into consideration if the content is appropriate for your audience.

Taylor - Silent Voices – Taylor is the author and illustrator of Silent Voices, which tells the story of her experiences with bullying. She was a victim of bullying, such as name-calling, physical harm and emotional harm, and even sexual harassment. Taylor shares how she will never forget the numerous times she would go to a social worker or a teacher or school staff member about these issues and they would always turn her down, saying that, "teenagers are just being teenagers," or "I think you're over-reacting, kid."

Lizzie is a country music singer/songwriter, who experienced verbal teasing and ridiculing from other children in elementary school. Her song, “Butterfly” tells her story and how she overcame her situation. Lizzie is passionate about helping raise awareness about bullying, and trying to effect change.

Anna Richey - Broken – Anna Richey is a singer/songwriter from Salt Lake City with a dream to inspire people with her music. She hopes to influence the world for the better, starting with her single Broken. To accompany this powerful song, Anna has created a toolkit to help students think about how they can take action in bullying situations.
