Nevada PEP is leading the movement against bullying. Once again we are partnering with the National Bullying Prevention Center in Minnesota. The Run Walk Roll Against Bullying is an annual event. This year the 7th Annual Run Walk Roll Against Bullying event will be on Saturday, September 30th on the campus of UNLV. We are kicking off October which is recognized as National Bullying Prevention Month, it’s a time when communities can unite nationwide to raise awareness about bullying prevention through events, activities, outreach, and education. Last year we had, 22 schools participate with close to 1,500 participants and this year we are expecting a much larger crowd. The Run Walk Roll is a 5k fun run and a 1.5 fun walk. We are bringing awareness and bullying prevention to the forefront. As a community we all need to be involved in all of our children’s education. Over the years, parents have called PEP saying their child does not want to go to school because they are getting bullied, our kids are dropping out of school, and parents are saying their child does not feel safe in their own school. While bullying doesn’t always leave bruises or broken bones, it can leave deep emotional scars that last a lifetime. Bullying is a serious issue that occurs throughout our schools every day and without interventions bullying can lead to serious academic, social, and emotional problems. Kids with and without disabilities are getting bullied, we all need to take a stand against bullying to keep all children safe.
The Run Walk Roll is a family event with great raffle prizes, fun face painting, and some very popular mascots promoting bullying prevention.
