Parent Organizations

The goal of parent organizations is to improve the quality of life of individuals with disabilities and their families. This is done in a simple way: by parents helping parents. The aim of parent organizations is to help people develop the skill of advocating for oneself.

Why are Parent Organizations Important?

Parents share a number of common family experiences, and so they're able to empathize with each other. In addition, veteran parents who have children with disabilities have knowledge based on their past experience that is valuable for younger families. The emotional support given by parent organizations is also extremely valuable to families.
