Save the Date! Forth Annual Parent Conference is Oct. 28–29, 2010
The Minnesota Parent Center’s forth annual statewide parent conference is Oct. 28–29 at PACER Center in Bloomington. This free event offers information parents can use to help their children achieve their education goals.
“Parents Know” Web Site Now Includes Information on Newborns
Parents of newborns can now find information about infant health and development, community resources, and fun activities to do with their babies on this Minnesota Department of Education Web site. The site also offers information on parenting older children and teens. Find it here. |
Free Parent Involvement Resources
Web Site: Parent Teacher Education Connection
This Web site explains how schools can increase different types of parental involvement: learning at home, parenting, community partnership, communication, volunteering, and decision making. Its goal is to facilitate better interaction between parents who homeschool their children and teachers at school. Visit this resource here.
Video: “It Can Be Done: Turning Around America’s Lowest Achieving Schools”
This new video is about the Title I School Improvement Grant Program and how the communities of Mobile, Ala.; Philadelphia, Pa.; and Chattanooga, Tenn., successfully implemented turnaround, restart, and transformation models to revitalize and transform their lowest-performing schools.
