RAISE A GLASS | A TOAST TO PACER

Join Friends of PACER at Surly Brewing Co. in Minneapolis on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. for a fun evening that supports PACER’s projects.

  • Friend Ticket: $20 includes appetizers and one drink token.
  • Patron Ticket: $35 Includes tour of Surly, appetizers, and two drink tokens.
  • Ticket Add-on: $5 Surly Tasting For an additional $5 donation, guests will have the opportunity to taste a variety of Surly beers.

Tickets for non-drinkers are $15. Purchase tickets or call 952-838-9000. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. This event is organized by PACER’s Young Professionals Advisory Board.

ATTENTION TEACHERS: YOUR STUDENTS CAN BE PART OF THE BULLYING PREVENTION SOLUTION

As part of its “Students with Solutions” campaign, PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center has launched an exciting contest for K-12 classrooms. Teachers can enter their students’ art, poetry, stories or graphics in response to watching a new animated video series and engaging in class discussion. Among the prizes are LilGadget headphones, classroom pizza parties, books, medals, and rolls of DuckTape. The contest closes on January 31, and winners will be announced in February.

NEW MULTICULTURAL RESOURCES AVAILABLE AT PACER.ORG

PACER is excited to announce its new online resources for educators and culturally diverse families. Families will find resources created just for them and translated into Spanish, Somali and Hmong. Training videos, research literature, as well as practice guides and tools, are also available for educators and school administrators to build effective home-school communication and promote meaningful family engagement.

FUN TIMES FOR TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH AND WITHOUT DISABILITIES: SAVE THE DATE!

Young people with disabilities are invited to join in the fun at 2016-2017 season’s first Fun Times event! Join the Fun Times group, a volunteer, social program that connects teens and young adults with and without disabilities on Friday, December 2nd from 6:00-9:00 pm. There will be a light dinner. TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD: SHAPING THE FUTURE!

SYMPOSIUM FOR PARENTS, PROFESSIONALS IS NOVEMBER 29
Parents and professionals are invited to join experts on early childhood development and assistive technology (AT) at the Center for Technology and Disability’s national symposium in Washington, D.C. Remote attendance is available for the first 500 registrants. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), this conference will provide valuable lessons drawn from evidence-based research, research to practice, and family advocacy.
