Utah Parent Center Featured in News Stories
The Utah Parent Center, directed by Helen Post, was recently highlighted in a newspaper article describing their successful workshop in a southern Utah community. The story, also featured in an edition of the Council for Exceptional Children’s
SmartBrief newsletter, included several positive comments from parents about all they had learned and how it would impact their child.

Sinergia Co-Hosts Autism Presentation
Sinergia, a Parent Training and Information Center in New York City, is collaborating with the Columbia University Medical Center to present a 3-hour session on autism research. The presentation, Bridging Public Awareness with Developing Science in Autism, will feature speakers on medical as well as social aspects of autism. The training will take place November 8, 2008. Congratulations to Sinergia director Myrta Cuadra-Lash on this exciting event!

Technical Assistance & Dissemination Project of the Month: NECTAC
NECTAC, the National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center, is funded by OSEP to provide states a variety of resources and assistance to improve early childhood service systems and outcomes. NECTAC provides a variety of supports, including individual technical assistance, internet resources, and conferences. NECTAC is directed by Lynne Kahn and Dean Fixsen and is located at the FPG Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Work-Family Issues for Employed Parents of Children with Disabilities
The Sloan Work and Family Research Network out of Boston College held a one-day think tank in May on issues facing working parents of children with disabilities. One outcome of that meeting was a report summarizing the challenges, best practices, and recommendations discussed.

Special Quest Multimedia Training Library
SpecialQuest, funded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has released an online library of multimedia training materials. There are three categories of resources: (1) Including Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities; (2) Building Relationships with Families; and (3) Collaboration and Training. Each of these modules includes materials and videos in English and Spanish.
