The University of Minnesota Extension Service develops programs that foster the effective parenting of children and youth, with an emphasis on positive parenting for children birth to young adulthood, divorce issues, violence prevention, and other information to help understand the complex social issues facing families today. Youth and Family Development programs address parenting skills, childcare, youth development, family economic stability, finances, consumer education, divorce transition, and change and stress. Current priorities include: positive out of school time, vital aging, and building strengths with underserved and transitioning families. Teen-Link was developed as a means for educators and other professionals, parents, teachers, youth and anyone working with adolescents or interested in adolescent development to obtain quick access to variety of resources, both academic and practical, addressing teen issues. The mission of the Center for Early Education and Development (CEED) is to improve developmental outcomes for young children through applied research, training, and outreach (publications, events). Parent support groups organized through Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota PCAM has a mission to prevent child abuse and neglect by promoting positive parenting, healthy families, and supportive communities where children are respected and valued. The Covering All Families website was made to support Minnesota families and make them stronger. Lots of programs exist to help families. Many times people do not know they qualify for these programs, or do not know how to apply. This website can help. A Network for promoting and supporting inclusion in all communities. |
