Kids Included through Technology are Enriched

A Technology Training for Teachers and Parents of Young Children

Project KITE is a training curriculum for parents and teachers of young children with disabilities. The goal of Project KITE is to promote inclusion for children with disabilities through the use of technology. It provides the opportunity for extensive training to integrate technology in early childhood classrooms and homes.

Project KITE comes in two formats:

  • Team-based trainings
Parents and professionals participate as a team in a half-year training program. Team members attend five trainings, approximately three hours each, and participate in technology integration activities within their homes and classrooms. Teams receive assistive technology including: computers, printers, and digital cameras for the duration of the training. Upon successful completion of the training each team will receive a Young Explorer computer (donated by IBM) for their child’s classroom.
  • Individual workshops
Early Childhood Assistive Technology Workshops are available by request for communities in Greater Minnesota! Workshops can be requested by parents and/or professionals, and can be tailored to individual needs. Possible workshop topics include: AT for infants and toddlers, Boardmaker, Clicker, Universal Design, and more.
