and in no way diminishes the right of individuals to: live independently; enjoy self-determination; make choices; contribute to society; pursue meaningful careers; and enjoy full inclusion and integration in the economic, political, social, cultural, and educational mainstream of American society.

Helping Families Prepare for the Future:
Rehabilitation Services Administration
Parent Information and Training Programs
Outcome Data 2005-2006

This publication summarizes the work of seven Parent Information and Training Programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) to “provide training and information to enable individuals with disabilities, and the parents, family members, guardians, advocates, or other authorized representatives of the individuals to participate more effectively with professionals in meeting the vocational, independent living, and rehabilitation needs of individuals with disabilities (Rehabilitation Act, 1998).”

The data in this report was collected and compiled by the Technical Assistance on Transition and the Rehabilitation Act (TATRA) Project, also funded by RSA, to provide technical assistance and support to the Parent Information and Training Programs. The data represents the number of people served through grant activities over a 12-month period in 2005 and 2006 and the positive outcomes these activities had for families.
