RSA Program Data 2005-2006

The data presented here provides policy-makers, administrators, and advocates with a clear picture of who is being served by RSA Parent Information and Training Programs, and the ways in which program activities influence meaningful outcomes for individuals with disabilities and their families. Data was collected from seven RSA funded Parent Information and Training Programs serving 10 states: California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Washington. It represents program outcomes for activities conducted in only one 12-month period—the 2005-2006 grant-year.

How This Information Was Collected

To gather the data for this report, approximately 350 parents in nine states were interviewed by telephone. Parents who provided this information had attended workshops sponsored by their state RSA Parent Information and Training Program or received individual information and referral or advocacy services during the 2005/2006 grant-year. Interviewers were either individuals paid specifically to conduct telephone interviews, volunteers, or staff who did not originally provide the individual assistance or training. Parents were selected on a random basis.
