Fox and Trove is committed to empowering kids to change the world by teaching them how to be kind and brave. Research shows the most effective way to stop bullying is by preventing it in the first place by teaching kids between the ages of 3 and 6 how to be kind. The two mamas behind Fox and Trove go one step further and also teach this age group how to be brave because kids who stand up for themselves and others effectively are far less likely to be targets of bullying. They never use the word "bullying" with kids, they always focus on the positive-kindness and bravery. Read More Here

Website: allaboutbulliesbigandsmall.com

LilGadgets Headphones are designed to create the best experience for kids. With comfort, safety, premium materials, and high quality audio incorporated into each pair, you can rest assured there's nothing better on the market for young people. Also, we integrate our SharePort in each set of headphones so that the child can easily share what he or she is listening to with those around.

Connect. Share. Love. That is the driving theme we follow when building both our headphones and our business. And that is why we believe in supporting causes like bullying awareness. Our kids spend much of their time at school so we need to make it as safe and comfortable as possible. The safer the environment, the more we can see their little minds flourish and their hearts grow.

A Picture Book to Empower Bystanders

Website: allaboutbulliesbigandsmall.com

Heart Eyes: Beth and the Bullies addresses the growing evidence that bystanders are also intimidated by bullies, rendering some of them fearful of reporting bullying. Parents and educators will find this book helpful when teaching bystanders how they can create a safer place. The central character, Beth, sees others differently. With her heart eyes she notices the pain and potential in children who are bullied. Her story will inspire readers to find creative, non-confrontational solutions to bullying.

The book includes follow-up questions adults can use to guide discussions. The author, Vicki Chandler, shares the collective frustration about bullying as a parent (her son has ADHD and was bullied) as an adjunct professor (teaching special education courses at Cairn University), and as a former school administrator, special education teacher, and classroom teacher.

Find out more about this series by visiting the Heart Eyes website. There you’ll find examples of the phenomenal pictures done by the illustrator, Ryan Jackson, who is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design.

A portion of the proceeds from book sales supports PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.

WONDER, by R.J. Palacio - You can't blend in when you were born to stand out

Website: allaboutbulliesbigandsmall.com

Press Release: GINGERPALOOZA

Educator Guide: Teaching WONDER with Trudy Ludwig

August Pullman was born with a facial deformity that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can't get past Auggie's extraordinary face. WONDER by R.J. Palacio begins from Auggie's point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These perspectives converge in a portrait of one community's struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope. R.J. Palacio has called her debut novel "a meditation on kindness"—indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

Pledge To Choose Kind

Pledge to "Choose Kind" the bullying prevention campaign inspired by WONDER. During the month of October, Random House Children’s Books will donate $1 to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center for every pledge made.
