Position: Director of the Simon Technology Center (Assistive Technology Center)

Supervisor: Paula F. Goldberg, Executive Director
Status: Full-time, Exempt

Assistive technology is used to help individuals with disabilities reach their full potential. The Simon Technology Center offers information, referral, and professional training on a wide range of assistive technology topics.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for day-to-day management and assist with strategic planning and direction of an innovative national assistive technology center that serves families of children with disabilities
  2. Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers to accomplish short and long-term goals of the center
  3. Assist with foundation, state, and federal grants to contribute to the financial solvency of the center
  4. Coordinate tour and training requests for the STC
  5. Creates innovative business and technology solutions to grow the center
  6. Maintains positive working relationships and collaborate efforts with local organizations, vendors, and schools across the state
  7. Stays current on trends in assistive and educational technology
  8. Presents workshops and in-services for parents and professionals on assistive technology topics
  9. Works with a broad cross-section of people including families of children with disabilities, staff, board members, and culturally and racially diverse members of the community
  10. Works with leadership team at PACER to further the mission of PACER
  11. Other activities as required

Required Qualifications:

  • College degree in relevant area (SLP, OT, PT, Special Education, etc.)
  • Capability and leadership in technology that will help people with disabilities
  • Experience working with a broad range of people, including children with disabilities
  • Expertise with assistive and educational technology
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experience with the process and the consideration of assistive technology within the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) and Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Experience with staff management
  • Ability to use time efficiently and oversee multiple tasks and goals
  • Excellent organization skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Provide own transportation and have flexibility to travel

Desired Qualifications:

  • Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification (RESNA)
  • Knowledge of assistive technology market and implementation in schools
