Handout
Why are self-advocacy and advocacy important skills for youth?
All children should know that they have the ability to create positive change in their world. Children who actively participate in learning self-advocacy skills are better prepared to resolve problems themselves and understand when a problem requires adult help.

Middle and High School Self-Advocacy Guide

About the Campaign
The Speak Up about Speaking Up how-to kit is brought to you by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in partnership with Infinite Campus Foundation to provide community members with resource kits that will teach both children and young adults with and without disabilities a skill that will help them be successful in all areas of life. The kit provides educator lesson plans, guides, and additional resources to develop the lifelong skill of advocating for themselves and others.
Advocacy for self and others is a “social emotional skill set” that can be leveraged in bullying situations, education needs, health needs, and social interactions.
