Covergirl cosmetics surprises PACER with a $10,000 donation on reality television show “Opening Act”

Covergirl cosmetics presented a check for $10,000 to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center July 23 on the new reality show “Opening Act” on E! Entertainment Television. The donation was made on behalf of PACER spokesperson Kylie Morgan, who made her national singing debut on the program. The 17-year-old’s story and music are featured on PACER’s TeensAgainstBullying website. As a result of her success on the program, Kylie was given the opportunity to direct the money to the charity of her choice. Read More >>>

Seventeen-year-old Kylie Morgan, whose story and music are featured on PACER’s TeensAgainstBullying website, will make her national television debut Monday, July 23. The Land Run recording artist from Newcastle, Okla., will open for country music megastar Jason Aldean on the new reality show “Opening Act.” The program airs at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central on E! Entertainment Television.

President Barack Obama has officially endorsed the proposed federal Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA) and the Safe Schools Improvement Act (SSIA), which would target discrimination and bullying against students based on their sexual orientation and gender identity. The “Bully” movie will open nationwide this Friday, April 13 with a PG-13 rating.

The rating change was announced Thursday after three words were eliminated from the original version. Now students will be able to see the film without their parents. Check out the “Bully” Facebook page for a list of locations where the movie will be shown.

ABC News is directing its television viewers to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center as a resource to help prevent bullying among children in America. Links connecting users of the ABC News website to PACER resources were made available last week after a “Nightline” broadcast on the new film “Bully,” which opens in select theaters March 30. Effective bullying prevention strategies will be explored in depth July 10-13 at the National School Climate Center’s 15th annual Summer Institute in New York City. The Institute is designed to support school, district, and state teams (and other school, family, and community leaders) in developing school climate improvement plans. The focus will be on learning to create plans to promote equitable, safe, caring, and civil schools that support positive youth development, student learning and achievement, and “upstander” behavior – the inclination and ability to say “no” to bully-victim behavior. FBI Director Honors PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center

PACER Center and Paula Goldberg, one of PACER’s founders and its executive director, were honored by FBI Director Robert Mueller III in Washington, D.C., on March 16.  Mueller presented Goldberg with the prestigious Director’s Community Leadership Award in recognition of PACER’s national bullying prevention efforts. Julie Hertzog, director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, also attended the ceremony. The award is presented to individuals and organizations whose achievements in crime prevention and educational programs have made a positive difference in their communities. “All About Bullies … Big and Small” - Interviewed on CNN

CNN recently interviewed one of the producers of “All About Bullies… Big and Small,” which won the Grammy for Best Children’s Album.
