ACTION ALERT
Help protect special education
Last week, the Trump administration announced they were laying off nearly all employees at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs who oversee implementation of the federal special education law, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). PACER is extremely concerned about the devastating effects this would have on ensuring that families, schools, and states receive the services and guidance they need to provide students with disabilities a free, appropriate public education.
You can help PACER in our efforts to reverse these harmful actions. Please join other families and community members across the country by signing this petition to reinstate critical OSEP staff.
Thank you for raising your voice to help ensure strong support and oversight of IDEA at the U.S. Department of Education!
PACER is here for you
In these uncertain times, we continue to be available to families needing support as they navigate special education and other systems to access appropriate services for their children and young adults with disabilities. Special education laws have not changed and remain in full effect. If you are a Minnesota parent who would like to connect with a PACER advocate, fill out our contact form.
