Covergirl cosmetics surprises PACER with a $10,000 donation on reality television show “Opening Act”
Covergirl cosmetics presented a check for $10,000 to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center July 23 on the new reality show “Opening Act” on E! Entertainment Television. The donation was made on behalf of PACER spokesperson Kylie Morgan, who made her national singing debut on the program. The 17-year-old’s story and music are featured on PACER’s TeensAgainstBullying website. As a result of her success on the program, Kylie was given the opportunity to direct the money to the charity of her choice.
“I am so happy I could help,” said the Land Run recording artist from Newcastle, Okla. “I just want to thank Covergirl for doing that. It’s something that can make a difference for so many kids. I really appreciate it, and I know PACER does, too.”
“Opening Act” was developed by Nigel Lythgoe, creator of the hit reality show “American Idol.” Producers scour the Internet to find undiscovered talent on You Tube, and chosen performers have the opportunity to open for a major star in a live concert. Kylie performed with country music superstar Jason Aldean when his tour stopped in Birmingham, Ala.
Covergirl is a brand of Proctor & Gamble, which has supported PACER in the past through the “Mean Stinks” campaign. One of Covergirl’s spokespeople is television star Ellen DeGeneres, who is also a supporter of PACER’s bullying prevention work.
“We can’t thank Covergirl and Kylie enough. What an incredible surprise,” said Julie Hertzog, Director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center. “It was amazing to see her story on national television. The audience was able to discover more than just her musical talent. They saw who she is and what she stands for.”
