My Child Is on a Section 504 Plan

: Intro > IEP/504/None > Discipline > In-School Suspension

The Discipline is:

an in-school suspension*.

Response:

There are no restrictions on in-school suspensions, provided that your child:

  • is given services that allow him or her to continue to appropriately progress in the general curriculum
  • continues to receive the services specified on his or her 504 Plan*, and
  • continues to participate with children without disabilities to the extent he or she would have in his or her current placement. For example, if your child was in the regular education classroom, he or she must be assigned to the same in-school suspension room as children without disabilities.
